Dubai is a city ardent at making people feel welcome at any cost. The growing population in the city is expecting world class facilities in all fields. It has maintained educational standards with a large number of private and government schools, nurseries, and kindergartens offering international curriculum. Nurseries are the vital for a child’s growth and their first step to socialising. In Dubai there are plenty of nurseries to choose from without worrying about expenses.

The registration procedure in nurseries in Dubai are based on the UAE educational laws. Children should be at least 18 months old before they are enrolled. The school day is usually from 8:00 Am to 1:00 PM. There are certain nurseries which also operate  during the afternoon. Thus, these will not serve as full time day care for your child. Nurseries in Dubai provide an exciting and stimulating environment for the child. They are known for the facilities they offer along with sports and other recreational activities meant for the child’s development.

Dubai has nurseries with varied curriculum which include general and Montessori (followed by American and British nurseries). It is always an advantage if your child is comfortable and familiar with the curriculum so make your choice on those grounds. The purpose of a kids nursery school education depends on what the parents want for their child. There are several programs offered by different nurseries, some are simply babysitting services that keep the children engaged by playing with each other. There are others which focus on paving a way for the child’s education with a curriculum that includes studying shapes, colors and letters.

Base your decision for picking a nursery on its proximity to your residence. You can feel secure that your child is just near by. Ask for an opinion from your friends before you make a decision. Also, visit the nursery such that you can ensure the security of the place. You can meet the staff and note whether they are pleasant and capable of handling your child. Children can fall sick easily so ensure the premises are clean and hygienic. Make it a point to find out whether the nursery carries out routine check ups for children. All nurseries should have a well equipped medical room for emergencies. Some well known nurseries in prime localities are Jumeirah International Nursery School in Jumeirah, Alphabet Street Nursery in Um Sequeim, Jebel Ali Village Nursery in Jebel Ali etc.

With women being rendered equal rights in the city, more and more women have join the working class in Dubai. Daycare centres and nurseries are cropping throughout the city due to this. There are plenty of options for parents to choose. However, there is a major difference that parents have to look out for before making a final decision. Nurseries are completely different from day care centres. They provide care only during school hours which is mostly from 8:00 AM till 12:30 PM. They also follow the educational laws in Dubai which means the child has to be eighteen months old in order to be enrolled in a nursery. Nurseries usually have teaching as a supplement to providing care whereas day care centres just keep the children engaged in activities.

If both parents are working, it is difficult to put your child in a nursery and expect full time care. The more practical option would be to hire a nanny. For nannies who are within the city you will have to shell out at least AED 1000 per month whereas nannies from foreign countries expect a normal pay of AED 5200 per month. In addition you would also have to pay their airfare back home every two years. Careful check of visa regulations for foreign workers and yearly renewal is also required.

A number of agencies offer part time home help on an hourly basis, which may prove to be more economical. The charges are usually in the region of 20 AED per hour. You can also find baby sitters in your locality for taking care of the child in the evening.  The National Child Care Center Project was launched by the Government to establish nurseries and creche centers in Dubai for government departments having working mothers. The National Child Care Centers project was launched by Shaikha Manal Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Women Establishment (DWE), and wife of HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Presidential Affairs. Now, most Government departments have inbuilt day care centres.
